The Singles Collection
liner notes

I made this album for many reasons. It was the five year anniversary of The Mnemonic Devices; I wanted to make mixes of the songs which would work better as singles, taking out some of the excess (which doesn't make the song better, but different, and better for radio); I wanted to have a single collection that I could give to people who wanted to be introduced to TMD for the first time; I wanted to have something to sell at live shows which would cover my "hits"; I liked the title The Singles Collection from Pet Shop Boys and always thought that was a good idea (though these are only "singles" in the sense that they are the ones which are singled out as favorites, since none actually existed outside of the albums). Maybe some other reasons. I like the cover art. It's got a single girl and single guys and a radio for the radio-friendly element and cheese for both cheese singles and the cheesiness of the songs and it's nice and retro and classy. But you knew that already. I'll make another one of these in 2006.
