This album was made for me to listen to. I heard Stephin perform them live and I felt I needed these Stephin Merritt songs in some sort of studio form, even if it wasn't him in his studio. These eventually became 6ths songs.
Except "Little Love Song," which I wrote.
The cover art is perfectly minimal, I think. Does it say "Five Piano Songs" to mirror the "Five Loop Songs" of The Magnetic Fields' House of Tomorrow EP, which was their first EP that featured, for the first time, only Stephin? Yes.
